Review of the 3rd Network Meeting, February 24, 2026
On February 24, 2026, the members met online for the 3rd network meeting. A presentation by the network “Black and Brown in Bioethics” (BBB) formed the basis for an in-depth exchange.
In her presentation „Black & Brown in Bioethics unfiltered: a call for Bolder Bioethics“, Matimba Swana (Bristol), who co-founded BBB in 2022, illustrated racist structures in Bioethics and spoke about challenges and successes of BBB’s work in the United Kingdom. Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), she says, ought to form the 3rd pillar of academia, next to research and teaching.
Following the presentation, members discussed existing and possible future collaboration within the network.The planned talk with Dr. Agomoni Ganguli-Mitra (Edinburgh) was postponed, and will be taking place on June 30, 2026, as a public online lecture.
